Josh Chael Villanueva reached an amazing feat in 2019 – he became the youngest Kumon Math Program Completer of Zamboanga City Center!
How did he do it? He was able to manage his Kumon worksheets and school work at the young age of eight.
Mrs. Joyce Villanueva, Josh’s mother, discovered her son’s love for numbers and gift in math. She wanted to develop his math skills further, and she believed that Kumon would play a vital role in doing so. She eventually decided to kickstart Josh’s Kumon journey by joining the 2-Week Free Trial Campaign in September 2014. Immediately after the Free Trial, she decided to enroll Josh, a four-year-old boy, in the Kumon Math Program.
Starting in Level 5A (Reading Numbers up to 50) of the Kumon Math Program, Josh did a handful of tracing numbers, drawing lines, and number writing exercises. After a year, Josh was already answering multiplication and division problems. He was only in kindergarten then but the lessons tackled in his worksheets were five years beyond his grade level. With this, Josh was then recognized as one of Kumon Philippines’ Top Ten Students nationwide in the Advanced Students’ Forum.
Upon reaching Level G (Positive/Negative Numbers, Introduction to Algebra), Josh’s math skills were becoming evident as he was chosen to represent his school in various competitions. He balanced school and Kumon and persevered until completing the Kumon Math Program before turning nine years old.
Josh’s journey in Kumon has been a ride to remember. He has developed a love for learning and great love for Kumon. In fact, he cried once he realized that he had completed the program. He knew that he would truly miss Kumon – the worksheets, the other students, the assistants, the Instructor, and the Center.
Josh Chael Villanueva’s testimonial is just one of many stories that share how Kumon is a place where students of all ages can discover and achieve greater things. Experience the Kumon Method by joining the 2-Week Free Trial! Know more about this campaign here!
