How Kumon Shaped me for Life

I started my Kumon journey at a young age, not fully understanding what it would mean for my future. Back then, it felt like just another task, pages of math drills that seemed endless, routines that demanded discipline, and concepts that, at the time, felt repetitive. I didn’t realize it then, but each worksheet was quietly laying a solid foundation, sharpening my problem-solving skills and developing in me a sense of perseverance that I would carry for years to come.

As I moved through elementary and high school, the difference became clearer. While many of my peers struggled with numbers and formulas, I found comfort and confidence in them. Math never felt like a mystery to me; it was something familiar, something I could rely on. The habits I formed in Kumon, including consistency, patience, and analytical thinking, gave me a significant edge, not just in exams, but in how I approached learning in general.

Now that I’m in university, I see the full picture. Kumon wasn’t just about getting better at math; it was about building a mindset. It trained me to be independent, to face challenges head-on, and to trust the process of gradual improvement. What I once thought was a burden has turned out to be one of the best investments in my education. I’m grateful for the early start and for the quiet strength that Kumon helped instill in me.
