On the Pursuit of Justice and Excellence: How Kumon Shaped Atty. Vanessa Tanya Dano Babarin’s Character for Greatness

Finishing the Kumon Journey

Time Management – As a child, the temptation to play with my friends after school was strong, but I quickly learned the importance of balancing my commitments. Going to the Kumon Center twice a week required time management and this early recognition of responsibilities and priorities instilled in me a sense of discipline that has extended into various aspects of my academic and personal life.
Attention to Detail – Both the Math and Reading Programs presented challenges that required attention to detail. Whether navigating through intricate paragraphs in the Reading Program; or solving complex math problems, even those as basic as correctly applying PMDAS. This skill not only enhanced my problem-solving abilities but also fostered a deep understanding of the subjects.
Problem Solving – The program has instilled in me the belief that, regardless of how complicated or challenging a problem may seem, there is always a solution waiting to be discovered. Whether through dedicated contemplation or spending hours working through the intricacies, Kumon has taught me the importance of perseverance in the face of difficulties. This skill goes beyond academics, transcending into various aspects of my life. It has shaped my mindset not to succumb to challenges easily, but rather to approach them with a determined and solution-oriented attitude.
