The Dynamo Student

Called “the dynamo” (dynamite) by his parents, Alkim Rodgel Gosioco is a young boy with a wide array of interests. He began to browse all kinds of printed materials at the age of two and a half years old and is very interested in cars and airplanes. In fact, with much enthusiasm, he can name all car brands and models, including their parts

Foundation for a Brighter Tomorrow

Robert Bryan Yee did not have any plans to enroll in Kumon. His mother just told him to try the program at a nearby Kumon Center. What made him excited was when he found out about the topics per level and the level of difficulty for each. This was because he loves to take on challenges, especially mental ones. From there, Bryan realized

Falling in Love with Math and Learning

From having poor math grades in elementary, becoming a consistent high school honor student of Paco Catholic School, graduating Magna Cum Laude in college, passing the Electrical Engineering Board Exam in September 2014 with her rating just shy of 0.75% from the 10th topnotcher, and now an Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT) scholar at the University of the Philippines – Diliman,

Math is Everywhere

“Why do I need to study math?” This is a question your child asks every time he encounters a difficult problem or every time he does not feel like answering his math homework. Stay Beyond Summer

As the summer months come to an end, you may already be thinking of letting your child quit Kumon for the time being. Since he’ll be busy with academic requirements and other extra-curricular responsibilities, you would want to help lighten his already heavy load. You’re already going through his schedule and checking which activities can be let go as of now. And Kumon

To fully understand the concept of “appropriate starting point” in the Kumon Method, you must first

Summer and Beyond

The heat is settling in. The final examinations schedules have been announced. Vacation plans are being finalized. Talk of sports, art, and dance classes are starting to circulate. This can only mean one thing: summer’s here! It’s that time of year when children gladly say: “School’s out for summer!” It’s also the time of the year for endless conversations about the exciting places

The Kumon Math Advantage

To develop strong calculation skills in order to enable children to self-study high school mathematics with ease.

This was the goal that Toru Kumon, the Kumon Method founder, made when he started to develop the Kumon Math worksheets for his son, Takeshi. He discovered that Takeshi’s school workbooks contained a wide range of topics with some of them not necessarily addressing the need to develop calculation skills. This is why the Kumon Math worksheets do not contain all the math topics that your child is studying in school. Unlike the school curriculum which encompasses a number of topics, only those topics that are essential to achieve the goal of the method  have been included in the Kumon Math Program. […]
